In November 2010, Mayor Jay Dean created a Streets Task Force to evaluate road improvements needs in the Longview community. The task force is a diverse committee with representation from throughout Longview. The task force evaluated a variety of potential road projects including intersection reconstruction, road repair, and road widening.
On February 24, 2011, the Streets Task Force presented to Longview City Council a recommended list of street improvement projects totaling $52.6 million. The list of proposed projects can be seen below. As can be seen in the list, several of the projects include costs associated with utility infrastructure needs as well.
On Thursday, March 10, 2011, the Longview City Council voted to call a bond election to be held on May 14, 2011 for $52.6 million for street construction, maintenance, and improvements. Early voting begins May 2, 2011 and ends May 10, 2011. See the links below for more information.
