The City of Longview’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) is a thorough and detailed presentation of the city’s financial condition. It reports on the city’s activities and balances for each fiscal year. Reflected in this report is the extensive range of services provided by the City of Longview, Texas. These basic services include public safety, streets, recreation and parks, health and welfare, general administrative services, and utility services.
The ACFR is arranged in 3 sections:
- Introductory Section: Letter of Transmittal-this provides a financial overview of the city.
- Financial Section: Independent auditor’s report, management discussion and analysis, basic financial statements, fund financial (government, proprietary and fiduciary) statements, notes to the financial statements, required supplementary information, and combining fund statements and schedules.
- Statistical Section: This includes additional financial, economic and demographic information about the city.
The report is audited by independent auditors. In addition, the report is reviewed by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), which has provided a “Certificate of Excellence for Financial Reporting” to the City of Longview.
