All About Mentoring

Female Mentor and MenteeAspire Mentoring Program facilitates intentional relationships between trained, caring adults and young people needing additional support and encouragement. These relationships (called matches) are powerful tools for connection. A mentor empowers their mentee to make smart choices that put them on a path to making better life decisions.

Mentors listen to their mentee, and are a trusted guide and consistent ally through the challenges of childhood and adolescence. Mentors promote the self-confidence and self-assurance of mentees, and set high expectations for their mentee’s personal growth and success.

Male Mentor and MenteeYouth need adults who care about them and provide access to people, places and things outside their routine environment. Mentors offer their mentees, many of whom come from hard places, exposure to opportunities otherwise unavailable to them.

Research shows that the most common protective factor for youth resilience is at least one relationship with a supportive adult. Partners in Prevention’s Aspire Mentoring Program is a strategic way to multiply support for youth across a community by creating and nourishing these positive one-on-one relationships.
