Call Before You Dig

The City of Longview is a member of Texas 811 and encourages you to call 8-1-1 before starting any dirt moving projects. Even smaller projects like planting a tree, installing a fence or constructing a storage building require a Texas811 call and there isn't a charge for using Texas 811. Call before you dig, It's the law.

Contact Texas 811 at least 48 hours before you dig. Texas 811 will contact all applicable
utilities to mark any underground lines and will tell you which utility companies will be notified. Facility operators will mark their underground lines, as they determine necessary, and you will be able to work safely without delay. Marker Examples

Texas 811 will also provide, the person calling in, a reference number that serves as a proof of your call. Then you can begin your project knowing that you are utilizing safe excavation practices while preserving vital services, protecting property and saving lives!
