The Parks and Recreation Department offers several youth athletic programs and events listed below. Click here for a list of Youth Sports Associations.

Youth Basketball 2018-2019

For boys and girls ages 5 - 14 as of September 1, 2018. 
A copy of the child's birth certificate is required at the time of registration.
Divisions available: 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U
Registration Deadline: September 4 - November 2 - $70
Wait List and Player Add Deadline: November 5- November 30 - $80
Season Begins: January 5

Gridiron Skills Challenge

Local Competition
November 10th at 10:00am
Gibson Field at McWhorter Park (1000 Toler Road)
For boys and girls ages 6 - 13 (as of December 31, 2018)
Participants will be divided into age groups; boys and girls will compete separately. Each participant will get one punt, one pass, one kick, and one chance to run a 40 yard dash. The participant's score will be determined by the total distance and times of all 4 events combined. The top three participants in each age group will advance to the sectional competition.
** A peewee version of the Gridiron Skills Challenge will be held for children 3-5 years old. The peewee age group will be a local competition only and will compete in the punt, pass, kick, and 20 yard dash. **

TAAF Track and Field Meet:

Children 18 and under may participate in this competitive meet in order to show off their skills in regulation track and field events. Participants are not required to be a member of an established team and can register for events individually. Through this regional meet, an athlete may qualify to advance to the state meet held at the TAAF Summer Games of Texas. Registration for this event is NOT done through the Parks and Recreation office - interested participants MUST register through the TAAF website (
