Police Information Officer (PIO)

Officer Kristie Brian is the Public Information Officer (PIO) for the Longview Police Department. Officer Brian acts as the liaison between the media and the police department.

Officer Kristie Brian is a 1990 graduate of New Diana High School and received her Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Texas at Tyler in 1996. Prior to coming to work for the Longview Police Department, she served as a Probation Officer for Upshur County Community Supervision and Corrections Department for 7 1/2 years. While there, she supervised adult misdemeanor and felony cases and was the Victim Service's Coordinator for the probation department. She also served on the Upshur County Crimestoppers Board.

Officer Brian joined the Longview Police Department in October of 2003 and was nominated for Rookie of the Year in 2005. She holds her Instructor Certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE), Master Peace Officers certification, is the Sergeant at Arms for the East Texas Crime Prevention Association, on the board for the Gregg County Crimestoppers, and is an instructor for the Longview Teen Court's anger management, theft management, and tobacco awareness programs.

Officer Brian also serves as the co-coordinator of the East Texas Anti-Trafficking Team (ETATT) coalition which addresses issues of Human trafficking in East Texas.

She served as a Field Training Officer prior to being selected to be the Police Area Representative for District "B", Beat 40 in January of 2007. During her service as a PAR Officer her duties included the implementation of neighborhood improvement projects specific to Beat 40. Some of these projects included developing and maintaining Neighborhood Crime Watch and Citizens on Patrol programs. She was also involved in city park safety patrols, prostitution stings, and neighborhood revitalization efforts.

She also coordinates the Women's Safety program.

She was nominated for Officer of the Year in 2011.

Officer Brian was selected to serve as the Public Information Officer in November, 2010.
