In 2015 the Longview Police Department received a grant from State Farm Insurance Company for $27,000. This grant made it possible to purchase two Distracted Driving simulators. These simulators are used to educate the public, with focus on teenage drivers, on the dangers of distracted and/or impaired driving. Two specialized units within the police department, School Resource Officers and Police Area Representatives, have been trained on the use of these machines. These units are responsible for providing the simulators at community events and to civic organizations for presentations and demonstrations.
Please note: If you are interested in having the simulators at an event you MUST book the simulators at least 6 weeks in advance.
