Retire in Longview

Combining the conveniences of a larger city with the friendly atmosphere of a small town, Longview offers a wonderful quality of life for residents of any age! Longview is the regional hub for medical services, employment, shopping, entertainment, restaurants, events, and outdoor recreation.

Longview was proud to be named a Certified Retirement Community in the State of Texas in 2007. Since that time, Longview has continued to strive to improve our community to meet the needs of seniors as well as residents of all ages.

Longview is a city of 80,455 residents nestled in the beautiful piney woods of East Texas. As a hub of the Longview Metropolitan Statistical Area that includes Gregg County, Rusk County, and Upsher County, Longview is the central point of industry, retail, and services for an estimated 220,000 people. An excellent highway system gives additional access to surrounding communities, with Dallas only 125 miles west and Shreveport, LA, only 60 miles east for extended opportunities for shopping and recreational activities.

Even though Longview has an overall “Small Town Atmosphere,” all major amenities can be found in the community including quality medical care with highly-regarded hospitals, excellent municipal water resources, lack of traffic congestion, low cost of living, strong local economy, excellent housing option, public transportation, numerous parks and walking trails, nearby lakes for fishing and boating, and an active arts community.
