Garbage and Recycling Services Guidelines

When there are bags and junk outside of your cart, Sanitation workers have to pick up each item by hand. Not only is this a very slow process, but it also risks exposing the workers to needles, sharp objects, etc. In order for Sanitation to operate efficiently and safely, all bags and items need to be in the cart with the lid closed so that nothing will fall out when the truck arm lifts the cart.
  • Trash and recyclables need to fit fully inside the carts.

  • Carts need to be at least 4 feet from any obstructions such as cars, trees, trailers, mailboxes, etc.

  • Do not park in front of carts.

  • Carts need to be out before 7:30 a.m. on the day of pick up. (Leaving them out the night before is allowed.)

  • Blocked or improperly placed carts will not be serviced.

  • Residents must use City of Longview provided collection carts.

  • Assisted Collection Service will continue as normal.
