What is Spring Break @ LPL?

Spring Break @ LPL is a week during March that's packed full of free activities each day for kids of all ages!
We schedule this event during Spring Break to provide area children a safe place to have fun and learn with their friends.

March 11

  • Supersized Sensory Playtime!
    10:30 AM
    At the Longview Public Library
    Sensory Playtime kicks off our Spring Break fun at the library! Kids will develop positive behaviors and motor skills through immersive activities that stimulate the senses. Starts at 10:30 AM. Recommended for ages 0-5. Free to attend.

  • Video Game Day Tourney (Ages 8 - 17)
    2:00 PM - 5:30 PM

    At the Longview Public Library
    Bring your gaming skills to the table at our video game tournament! 
    We’ll play games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to see who can reign supreme. It will be round-robin style, so sign up as much as you’d like and try to de-throne the crowned champ! Ages 8 - 17.  Free to attend.

March 12

  • Spring Break Story Time
    10:30 AM
    ** Held at Longview Convention Complex - Maude Cobb
    Spend some quality time with family and friends during story time! Enjoy singing, dancing, reading, and learning activities that help your kids grow while having fun. We’ll hold story time over at the Longview Convention Complex - Maude Cobb.
    Recommended for ages 0 - 5. Free to attend.

  • Family BINGO
    2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
    ** Held at Longview Convention Complex - Maude Cobb
    Drop in for a few rounds of Family Bingo at the Longview Convention Complex - Maude Cobb.
    If your cards are lucky, you might win a prize! 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM. Free to attend.

March 13

  • Pair of Pirates Performance @ the Longview Kite Festival
    2:00 PM
    ** Held at Lear Park during the Kite Festival hosted by Longview Parks and Recreation.
    Kite Festival will run from 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM
    "Pair of Pirates is a band of three talented musicians that perform traditional Sea Shanties, Pirate Songs, and some original tunes of their own, all with a little comedy and some stories on the side. Our show tailored for little sailors in training will have everyone singing Yo, Ho, Ho and dancing a jig! 
    We bring the fun to the stage and will have everyone talking like a member of the crew. 
    With a combined professional history of over 50 years of performance and music, we make harbor in the DFW area but can be seen dockside wherever you tie up your ship."

    This show will be held at Lear Park, during the Kite Festival hosted by the Longview Parks and Recreation Department. 
    The Kite Festival runs 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM, and there will be all sorts of activity booths (the library will also have a booth), vendors, and food trucks to visit, so definitely plan for a fun day out. Bring your kites and sunscreen! 
    Free to attend. All ages.

March 14

  • Family Movie Day: The Super Mario Bros. Movie (PG)
    1st Show at 10:30 AM

    2nd Show at 2:00 PM
    At the Library
    Grab some snacks, get cozy, and let's watch a family-friendly movie at the library!
    We’ll be showing The Super Mario Bros. Movie (PG) on the spring break screen. 
    There will be two showings to attend. 
    Free to attend, limited seating. Limited amounts of free popcorn will be served.
  • Teen Movie Night:  Barbie (PG-13) 
    5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
    Ages 13 - 17
    At the library
    Teens ages 13-17, we’re holding an evening movie just for you. Come watch 2023’s hit film: Barbie (PG-13). 
    Limited amount of snacks and refreshments will be served. 
    Teens will need to have transportation to and from the event. Staff cannot provide transportation. 
    Signup is required for event attendance. 
    Contact (903) 237-1345 during business hours or register at the children’s department desk.
    Teens will also be able to sign in at the front door right before the event.

March 15

  • Crafty Kids Time
    10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
    At the Library
    Stop by the youth services desk at the library to make a project at our crafting stations. 
    We’ll have a selection of projects for all ages (0 - 6). All supplies provided. 
    Available from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM while supplies last. 
  • Afternoon Board Games 
    2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
    At the library
    Stop by the library to enjoy a board game with family, friends, and new peers.
    We have a huge board game collection along with cards, dice, and other tabletop games to choose from. 
    But feel free to bring one of your own! Free to attend.

March 16

    10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
    At the Library
    Spend the day at the library playing with our HUGE LEGO collection.
    Raffle prizes (including LEGO sets) will be drawn for every hour of the event! 
    Event runs 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM. 
    All ages, free to attend. We also have DUPLO blocks available for little kiddos to build with.
