The City of Longview Historic Preservation Commission was created in 2011 and is responsible for the protection and enhancement of landmarks and districts which represent distinctive elements of Longview's historic, architectural and cultural heritage. The Commission consists of seven positions appointed by City Council.

The Historic Preservation Commission is a seven member committee which shall, among other duties, adopt criteria for and manage the designation of local historic landmarks and historic overlay districts within the City of Longview.
