The Homeless Resource Day will be held at the Longview Exhibit Building on Friday, January 25, 2019, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The event is a collaborative effort between the City of Longview and various non-profit organizations to help meet the needs of the homeless. At the Homeless Resource Day, a person experiencing homelessness can find or enroll in and receive services that would otherwise take months to secure. Corporations, nonprofits and government agencies will be on hand to provide participants with services. The focus of the Homeless Resource Day is for attendees to actually receive services or be able to actively enroll in programs. Booths are available for agencies such as Education, Employment, Health & Wellness, Food and Nutrition, Housing, Finance, and Social Services who wish to provide a service to the homeless. Corporations, nonprofits and government agencies provide participants with services. Potential / preferred services include but are not limited to: distribution of hygiene kits, dental care, eyeglasses, haircuts, showers, laundry, housing information, food, personal care products, Veteran’s services, medical care, mental health services, SSI benefits, legal advice, Texas identification cards, employment counseling / job placement, and veterinary services (vaccinations) for pets of the homeless.
