[ARCHIVED] Partners in Prevention Needs Mentors

Partners in Prevention Mentoring Program provides youth, Kindergarten – 12th grade, with a caring, trained, adult friend to serve as a mentor to a young person needing guidance, support and encouragement.

Partners in Prevention Mentoring Program started as a pilot project in 1996. Since that time, the program has grown and now provides children with caring adult mentors in the following school districts: Longview, Pine Tree, Spring Hill, White Oak, Gladewater, Hallsville, Kilgore, and New Diana.

It is a simple process to become a mentor. First, contact Partners in Prevention at 903-237-1019 to schedule an interview and register for training and receive an information packet. You will be scheduled to attend a 2.5 hour training. You will be asked to complete an application form, which will include information needed to conduct a criminal history background check. Once your criminal history is cleared, then you will be matched with a child in need of a mentor. Mentors are asked to attend three periodic update training sessions throughout the year.
