Municipal Court Fees, Including Downtown Parking Tickets, Increasing

TylerStreet_Drone_2019-04-11-002_NewsFlash

Longview Municipal Court citations, including downtown parking tickets, will include a new, $14 state-mandated fee beginning Jan. 1, 2020.

Most downtown street parking is limited to 2-hours from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday.  Prior to this fee, a citation for parking over the limit in a 2-hour parking spot was $7, when paid timely.  The same citation will now cost $21.

If you plan to park for more than two hours during business hours, you are encouraged to take advantage of the free, long-term parking lots available on Cotton Street.

Additionally, downtown businesses may participate in the Parking Validation Stamp Program, which allows a business to stamp a customer’s citation that they received while visiting the business.  The customer may then bring the stamped citation to Longview Municipal Court and have it dismissed.

In order to help inform residents of the change, the Parking Compliance Officer will distribute informational notices to all vehicles parked in downtown parking spaces beginning on Thursday, Jan. 2.

If you have any questions, please call Longview Municipal Court at 903-237-1186.
