On Saturday, March 22, the Longview Fire Department responded to two separate structure fires within the city limits. The first fire was dispatched at 5:15 a.m. and was located at 120 Avenue D. Fire Department crews arrived and found fire in the upstairs kitchen of the residence. The fire had extended downstairs thru holes in the floor. Crews were able to bring the fire under control with no fire personnel injuries. The home owner was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation but was not transported to the hospital. The cause of the fire is being contributed to a grease fire in the kitchen.
The second fire was reported at 11:24 p.m. and was located at 703 Sabine Street. Fire Department crews arrived on scene and found the structure approximately 50% involved with fire. There were three people occupying the structure at the time of the fire. All three were able to escape without injury. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and it is believed to have been started by one of the occupants. If anyone has information about the fire they are urged to call the Longview Fire Marshal’s Office at 903-237-1217.
The Longview Fire Department responded to each of the above fires with three fire engines, two ladder trucks, one ambulance and four support vehicles for a total of twenty-one personnel on each scene.
