On April 28, 2020 at approximately 4:40 a.m. the Longview Fire Department responded to 402 Davis St. for a reported structure fire in a duplex.  Fire Department crews arrived and found the structure approximately 50% involved in fire.  Upon entry of the initial fire crews, the body of a deceased victim was discovered in a back room of the residence.  No other victims or injuries were sustained as a result of this fire.  The body has been sent for autopsy to determine the identity of the victim and the cause of death.  The fire is still under investigation at this time.

The Longview Fire Department responded with 3 fire engines, 2 ladder trucks, 1 ambulance and 4 support vehicles for a total of 21 personnel.

The Longview Fire Marshal’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the Longview Police Department, the Gregg County Fire Marshal’s Office, the Bureau of ATFE, and the State of Texas Fire Marshal’s Office canine division.
