The Longview Public Library’s annual Summer Reading Club is going virtual!
As things heat up outside, staff are gearing up for the annual summer-long program, this year with a new digital twist.
The 2020 theme is "Imagine Your Story," encouraging kids to foster their sense of creativity and imagination. This year’s virtual Summer Reading Club is packed with activities that will help kids to stay busy and foster excitement about continued reading throughout the summer.

Virtual programming will be offered daily on the Longview Public Library’s Facebook page group: Longview Public Library Online Programs & Events (
Some videos like craft instruction & recorded performances from performers around Texas & Louisiana will also be available on the Library’s YouTube channel for viewing.
Craft supply kits for Story Time and Digital Crafty Kids will even be available for curbside pick-up to families wanting to join in the fun and make the projects at home (limited quantities available).

Online registration is open now for kids ages 0-18 ( New, and returning participants will sign up through an easy process on the website Beanstack.
Those 18+ can even register for the Adult Summer Reading Club ( by filling out a Google Form to submit, or going the classic route and calling the front desk to sign up.

Participants of either reading club will start logging their reading June 8.
Kids have different weekly reading goals depending on their age group and the chance to win a prize for reading and completing a list of fun activities.

The fun starts June 5 with the youth service’s Virtual Kick-off Party featuring a raffle every 15 minutes for those watching!
Kids can also watch staff play games and even join in doing the same activities at home.
