The City of Longview Partners in Prevention Unity and Diversity Committee is accepting applications to audition to perform on the virtual Talent Stage on July 4. The Committee in 2014 began providing the "Diversity in America Stage" at the City of Longview’s Fireworks and Freedom Celebration, which in 2019 transitioned to the Talent Stage.
Examples of talent to be considered include dancing, singing, musical, poetry reciting, and narrative. To audition you must live in East Texas and complete an electronic application including your audition video URL by visiting LongviewTexas.gov/talentstage by June 12, 2020. Please note that the selection of final contestants will be based on the audition video that is submitted virtually. The final contestants will be required to record a video of their Talent Stage performance. The individual videos will be showcased on the Longview Unity & Diversity Committee Facebook page on July 4 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. The video with the most likes on the original post will claim a gift card and a certificate.
The mission of the Unity and Diversity Committee is to overcome barriers to the full inclusion of all community members by: Protecting Human Rights, Challenging Discrimination, and Celebrating Diversity. Monthly meetings are held at noon, the first Monday of each month. Please call Partners in Prevention at 903-237-1019 for more information about monthly meetings or auditions.
