[ARCHIVED] One arrested after call regarding gun shots

On September 16, 2020, at approximately 3:44 a.m., Longview Police officers were dispatched to a motel in the 400 block of N. Spur 63 in reference to gun shots. Upon arrival at the scene, officers located a guest room exterior door with bullet holes that appeared to have been shot from inside of the room. Officers believed only one person was inside the room and was refusing to come out. Longview SWAT and Negotiations units responded to the location. Officers worked to remove all of the surrounding guests for safety. Brief communications occurred between the officers and the individual inside the room. Around 7:30 a.m., the male subject, Jerome Waits, exited the room and was taken into custody without incident.  Officers confirmed the guest room was all clear. No injuries were reported. Waits was taken to the Gregg County Jail where he was charged with Deadly Conduct.
