Special Exhibit: "Citizens At Last: The Woman Suffrage Movement in Texas"

Special exhibit at the library, archival photo of women in 1920 marching for voting rights.

‘Citizens at Last’ focuses on the twenty-seven-year campaign for woman suffrage and women's voting rights in Texas.

Panel topics filled with newspaper clippings, archival photos, cartoons, and texts recount the national beginnings of the movement, early Texas leaders, anti-suffrage sentiments, efforts to amend the Texas Constitution, primary suffrage, and, finally, the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment.

Come visit the exhibit on display in the library December 18 - January 29!

This program was made possible in part with a grant from Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
