[ARCHIVED] Response to residential fire on Clingman Drive

On November 30, 2020, at approximately 10:20 p.m., the Longview Fire Department responded to 705 Clingman Drive for a reported residential structure fire.  When fire crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and fire conditions with fire coming out of the roof.  There was one person home at the time of the fire, and he was able to escape without injury.   According to the lone occupant, he had started a fire in the fireplace before going to bed.  He awoke to the sound of the smoke detector going off and found his house on fire.  The majority of the fire damage was contained in the attic space in the area of the chimney.   There were no reported injuries, and the estimated damage to the structure is approximately $50,000.00.

The Longview Fire Department responded with 3 fire engines, 2 ladder trucks, 1 ,ambulance and 4 support vehicles for a total of 21 personnel.
