City offices re-opened Monday morning after snowfall throughout the region Sunday afternoon and evening.
The Parks and Recreation Department's administrative offices, as well as Paula Martin Jones Recreation Center, Broughton Recreation Center, and Green Street Recreation Center are without power this morning and will be closed for the day today, Monday, Jan. 11, 2021.
While all roads remained opened, the Longview Police Department reported several interactions with traffic signals completely out, and others with flashing red lights. As of 7:45 a.m., the following roads were affected.
The traffic signal is completely out at:
- South St & S. Spur 63
- W. Marshall Ave. & Bill Owens Pkwy.
- Estes Pkwy & Loop 281
- Estes Pkwy & North Access Road
- Estes Pkwy & South Access Road
- Spur 63 & Marshal Ave.
Officers are at these locations directing traffic.
The traffic signal is completely out but temporary stop signs have been placed:
- Fourth / Pegues
- W. Marshall Avenue & Bill Owens Parkway
- Young Street and MLK Boulevard
Signal lights are flashing red:
- McCann / W. Hawkins
- N. High St / Tyler
- E. Marshall / Alpine
- Bill Owens / Fairmont
- Bill Owens / HG Mosley
- S. High / Birdsong
Please come to a complete stop before entering the intersection.
Tree blocking the roadway:
- 1700 block Garner Lane
- Idylwood Dr (WB) & Hutchings Blvd
Downed Cable Lines:
The region remained under a Winter Storm Warning from the National Weather Service until 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 11.
"While snow will generally come to an end this morning, the threat for difficult road conditions will continue through mid-morning, especially on bridges and overpasses," the National Weather Services said in a statement.
The forecast calls for sub-freezing temperatures overnight on Monday, which may re-freeze any moisture still on roadways.

City of Longview offices and services will open as normal on Monday, Jan. 11 after the region was blanketed with snow beginning Jan. 10.
Staff and administration are evaluating the weather and road conditions and will provide an update online and through social media by 7 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 11, should something change.
Longview's trash and recycle collection will continue as normal.
However, due to potential road issues because of snow and ice, Longview Transit, the City's bus system, will begin service at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 11.
Residents are encouraged to use caution while driving, particularly in the early morning hours as overnight freezing temperatures may cause ice to form on roadways.
