[ARCHIVED] Stop the Bleed Community Trainings Resume

Stop-the-Bleed

The Longview Fire Department will resume hosting "Stop the Bleed" community trainings on Monday, June 14, and will continue the second Monday of each month.

Trainings will be held from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at the Longview Fire Department Training Center at 411 American Legion Boulevard.  Registration will take place at 5:30 p.m., but residents can pre-register online

Stop the Bleed is national campaign led by the federal government to better prepare the public to save lives. Victims can quickly die from uncontrolled bleeding, within 5 to 10 minutes, so the campaign raises awareness of basic actions to stop life threatening bleeding following everyday emergencies and man-made and natural disasters.

Similar to how the general public learns and performs CPR, the idea is that the public must learn proper bleeding control techniques, including how to use their hands, dressings, and tourniquets.

The public classes are free.  For more information, please call 903-239-5531.
