Longview Improves Open Records Request Process

COL News Entryway

The City of Longview is improving transparency by making public records more easily accessible. Requestors of public information will now have the option of submitting Open Records Requests through an online form.

“We pride ourselves on being responsive to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests from our residents,” City Secretary Angie Shepard said. “This new tool will help streamline both the citizens’ requests and City of Longview responses.”

The City of Longview averages more than 200 open records request monthly. The new online form is powered by JustFOIA, which is an information request software designed to empower organizations to better streamline, manage and track public records requests.

While traditional methods for submitting requests are still available, the City of Longview is excited to be able to offer a more convenient option. If you would like to submit a request, the online request form is available at LongviewTexas.gov/OpenRecords or LongviewTexas.gov/FOIA.
