Donations may consist of canned goods, bread, staples, frozen meats, and monetary donations. In addition to a turkey or chicken, each box will contain approximately 2 cans of green beans, 2 cans of corn, 2 cans of green peas, 2 cans of miscellaneous peas or beans, 2 cans of soup, 1 bag of pasta, 1 canned meat, 1 dessert, 2 boxes of Jello mix, 1 can of cranberry sauce, 1 loaf of bread, 1 canned fruit, 1 miscellaneous vegetable, and 1 miscellaneous powdered drink mix.
Several months before the event, applications are taken from families in need who live in the Longview area. Application deadline to receive a food box was October 31, 2021. The pre-approved families selected to receive a food box will be notified by letter ahead of time and will be instructed to come to Maude Cobb Convention Center at a designated time on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 to collect their food box.
Due to CoVid concerns, the collection and distribution of food will be drive-thru events, with all participants asked to remain in their vehicles. Volunteers are asked to sign up ahead at longviewthanksgiving.com and designate a time they wish to volunteer. All volunteers must be 16 years or older.
