[ARCHIVED] City Departments Work Together to Save Dog

Dog's foot showing mange

On November 4, 2015, a Longview Police Officer was on routine patrol near the area of Jane Street and Texas Street. The officer noticed what appeared to be a dog in distress on the side of the street. As the officer approached the dog it was apparent that the dog was very malnourished, bleeding from open wounds, and suffered from a severe case of the mange. The officer contacted Animal Control and they responded to the scene. Working together they were able to find the owner of the dog and the dog was immediately taken to a local shelter. From there, the dog was transported to an area veterinarian for treatment. At this time it seems the dog will be able to make a full recovery, but the recovery will be a long process. The suspect's information was obtained and a case will be forwarded to the Gregg County District Attorney for review.
