[ARCHIVED] Police Investigate Shooting

Longview, TX:  The Longview Police Department is investigating an overnight shooting that occurred in the 2200 block of South Twelfth Street.  At approximately 11:23 p.m. on Monday, January 24th, 2022, Longview Police Officers were dispatched to the scene in reference to a shooting.  When officers arrived, they discovered two victims at the location with multiple gunshot wounds.  They were both transported to a local hospital where one of the victims, 32-year-old Cedric Evers, later succumbed to his injuries.  The second victim is currently listed in stable condition.
During the investigation, Longview Police Detectives developed a suspect and obtained a murder warrant for 28-year-old Dominique Sheffield.  Sheffield was later located by the Smith County Sheriff’s Office where he was subsequently booked into their jail on the murder warrant with a $2,000,000 bond and on numerous unrelated charges.
