On April 24, 2022 at about 6:15 p.m. the Longview Fire Department responded to 5518 W. Loop 281 for a reported commercial structure fire. When crews arrived they found the single story building that was used as a laundry mat and storage with heavy fire conditions. Crews were able to control the fire but not before it spread to one of the residential buildings that was close. That building did suffer minor heat and fire damage. There were no reported injuries and no one in the laundry mat at the time of the fire. None of the tenants were displaced due to the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Longview Fire Department responded with four fire engines, two ladder trucks, one ambulance, and four support staff vehicles for a total of twenty four personnel on scene.
