On July 19, 2022, four Longview firefighters were sent to Palo Pinto County to help control the ongoing wildfires that have plagued Central and West Texas this year.
During the past two weeks they have been involved in fighting several fires across the state and are currently in Hood County assisting with the River Bottom Fire. With the normal fourteen-day deployment coming to an end, our assistance has been requested for another two-week deployment. On August 1, 2022, four more Longview Fire Department employees will travel to Big Springs, Texas, to relieve the four-person crew already deployed. The initial crew is set to return to Longview on August 2.
The Longview Fire Department would like to thank the community for all the support that has been given to our crews at home and away fighting fires during this highly volatile wildfire season.
