The City of Longview Partners in Prevention’s Unity and Diversity Committee has announced Junior League of Longview as the recipient of the 2016 Service Recognition Award- a new service acknowledgement component of the Unity Honors Awards Luncheon.
This award gives special recognition to schools, businesses, and/or organization that have done outstanding work within the past year while promoting diversity, unity and creating a cooperative spirit in encouraging and mobilizing change for the greater good of the community.
Keeta King, City of Longview liaison said, “We are very excited to recognize the Junior League of Longview for their hands-on approach and efforts to strengthen our community and remedy identified concerns through programs such as Motivate To Move; Read As One; and most recently, The Poverty Conference. They embody what this award is about.”
The Unity Honors Luncheon is scheduled for Thursday, February 11, 11:30 a.m.- 1 p.m. at the Maude Cobb Convention Center located at 100 Grande Blvd., Longview, TX. Mrs. Julie Woods of Julie Woods and Associates will be the Mistress of Ceremony.
Tickets are on sale now for $15 and can be purchased at Partners in Prevention, 140 E. Tyler St, #400; Broughton Recreation Center, 801 MLK Blvd.; Barron’s Bookstore, 405 W. Loop 281, Longview ISD Administration Office, 1301 E. Young St; and Longview Public Library, 222 W. Cotton St. No tickets will be available on the day of the luncheon. Lunch will be catered by Tyler Street Bistro.
