Longview Fire Department is investigating two new fires this week. On Monday, January 25th, Fire Investigators responded to 616 Washington St. to investigate an attempted arson fire that had occurred in the early morning hours. The home owner discovered the corner of the residence was “smoked up” after they returned from a morning walk. Evidence of an ignitable liquid was collected during the investigation. This is being investigated as an attempted arson. No other information available at this time.
At or around 10:44 pm on January 25th, fire crews responded to 112 White City to a single family rental unit that was fully involved with fire on arrival. The structure did have utilities; however the unit’s occupant was recently evicted, so no one was displaced as a result of the fire. At this time this fire does not seem to have any relation to the recent fires in other portions of the city. This fire is under investigation as an arson fire. No injuries reported as a result of this fire. No other information available at this time.
