On February 9, 2016 at 7:19 p.m., Longview Police officers on patrol observed the driver of a 2008 silver Lexus turn left at the intersection of Avalon Avenue and begin to travel northbound on Fredonia Street. The driver of the Lexus failed to use his turn signal. Officers conducted a traffic stop on Pierce. When officers approached the Lexus they asked for identification and Pierce gave police a fake name and birthday. After being unable to obtain any information on the subject police were able to determine, through jail records, that the driver of the Lexus was in fact 46 year-old James Wesley Pierce, of Longview. Police also learned that Pierce was wanted out of several counties on various charges. Pierce was arrested for Failure to Identify Fugitive (M/A) and the M/C traffic offense. He was also arrested on several outstanding warrants including Class C misdemeanor cases (X3), a Possession of Controlled Substance PG 1 >=1G<4G warrant from Rusk County, Sexual Assault of a Child warrant from Harrison County, a Theft of Service >=$1,500<$20K warrant from Clay County, and a Theft of Property >=$20<$500 By Check warrant out of Gregg County. He was transported to the Gregg County Jail without incident.
