The Public Safety Communications Division is looking for driven, bright, and service-minded individuals to be the "first" first responders. 9-1-1 Dispatchers provide the delivery of emergency and non-emergency services to the public. The positions start at $18.57 an hour and are promoted to $21.53 an hour after the completion of training. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, but no experience is required. The applicant must pass a keyboarding skills test prior to applying for the position. The application process includes the completion of an in-depth Personal History Statement. Applications of qualifying candidates are forwarded to the Public Safety Communications Division for screening. Screening includes successfully completing the Perfex Skills Test, which measures the candidate's aptitude for multi-tasking and an in-depth interview.
