There is lots to see and do in Longview, and a new effort called the “20 in 24 Passport Challenge” offers visitors and residents the opportunity to win prizes while exploring local events and destinations. Visit Longview has partnered with City of Longview departments and Arts!Longview participating organizations to encourage attendance at events, performances, museums, and destinations throughout the year.
Participants can earn a stamp on their passport at each event or destination and then be entered into a drawing to win Longview-themed prizes at the end of the year such as a hot air balloon ride, tickets to shows, and local gift cards.
To participate, pick up your free passport at Visit Longview Marketplace, 109 W. Tyler St., or receive a passport at any participating destination or event. Participating destinations available during open business hours anytime throughout the year include Broughton Recreation Center, Gregg County Historical Museum, Longview Animal Care and Adoption Center, Longview Arboretum & Nature Center, Longview Museum of Fine Arts, Longview Public Library, and Longview World of Wonders. Stamps can also be earned at selects shows and events provided by ArtsView Children’s Theatre, East Texas Symphonic Band, LeTourneau University Belcher Center, Longview Symphony, Theatre Longview including the Duck. Duck. Moose! Improv Troupe, and the City of Longview.
“The event calendar in Longview is full of great events and shows throughout the year, so there will be ample opportunity to earn stamps,” said Director of Community Destinations Shawn Hara. “The 20 in 24 Passport Challenge is a way for us to highlight the great events and activities taking place in Longview, while also rewarding the patrons who attend and support our cultural and recreational offerings.”
It is free to participate in the Passport Challenge and many of the events and destinations are free to attend. However, some events and destinations do require an admission. While the Passport Challenge already identifies several specific events throughout the year, bonus event opportunities will be added throughout the year as well.
