[ARCHIVED] Help Save 100 Girls in Zimbabwe

Sewing machine

Join us at Green Street Recreation Center on Friday, July 15th at 10:00 a.m. to help save 100 girls from being sold into human trafficking.

Krista Rash is a Juliette Girl Scout. Juliette Scouts work alone. They are not in a troop. The Silver award is the highest achievement a girl in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades can get. She has to work 50 hours on the project as well as maintain her school and home life. Krista chose a project that she is passionate about: human trafficking. In Zimbabwe, girls whose family can't afford clothes for their daughters can be sold into human trafficking, but girls who have clothes are considered owned and can't be sold. They are safe. Krista has set a goal of 100 dresses to save 100 girls. Part of the Silver Award rules is to teach someone who could continue on with the project if they so choose.

Krista is bringing all the supplies needed to make the dresses. You don’t have to be a seamstress to work on this project! The more people we have, the more dresses we can make. If you have a sewing machine, please bring it. We need you even if you don’t sew. Krista is so excited that we agreed to help her. She jumped up and down when her mom gave her the date and time.

Lunch will be provided for everyone that participates in this project. Green Street Recreation Center is located at 814 S Green St, Longview, TX 75602. Please sign up by July 14th by calling 903-237-1279.
