Fridays are Game Day at the library! We’ll be holding a Super Smash Bros. Tournament in the Moeschle Room for ages8 - 18. Sign up in a round-robin fashion, and play your match when called. Winners get the crown and get to play again.If not, you’re welcome to sign up for another round! If you prefer something a little more classic, there will be board games set up at the reference tables in the center of the library. Families are welcome to come and play at their leisure! The event will run 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM on Fridays throughout Summer Reading Club.
East Texas Food Bank Distribution events are at the Longview Exhibit Center the second Friday of each month. This is a drive thru event from 8 to 10 a.m. while supplies last. There is no need to register, first come, first served. Enter from Cotton Street to Grand Boulevard.
BASIC PEACE OFFICER COURSE (TCOLE #1000696) LIMITED OPENINGS The Longview Police Academy is currently accepting applications for the next Basic Peace Officer Course! Application preference will be given to individuals who have been accepted for employment with a police agency. All necessary forms must be fully completed, processed, approved and on file by April 5, 2021 for entrance into the academy. Tuition for the academy is $1,000.00 and is payable prior to the first day of the academy. Payment must be submitted by check made payable to “Longview Police Department”. No credit cards or purchase orders accepted, however an invoice may be requested. Applicants must have their fingerprints submitted through the FAST fingerprint system.
