STOP the BLEED is national campaign led by the federal government to better prepare the public to save lives. Victims can quickly die from uncontrolled bleeding, within 5 to 10 minutes, so the campaign raises awareness of basic actions to stop life threatening bleeding following everyday emergencies and man-made and natural disasters. Similar to how the general public learns and performs CPR, the idea is that the public must learn proper bleeding control techniques, including how to use their hands, dressings, and tourniquets.
