Animal Shelter Advisory Committee
Assists animal shelters located in the City with compliance with the Health and Safety Code.
The City Council is comprised of a Mayor, who is elected at large, and 6 Council Members, 1 elected from each district.
Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee
14 members, with representation from each council district, advise the City Council in matters pertaining to the City of Longview's Comprehensive Plan.
Construction Advisory and Appeals Board
Nine members serve as an advisory body to City Council in matters pertaining to City construction codes. Hears appeals regarding City officials' decisions, grants variances for special conditions, and governs contractor license procedures.
Cultural Activities Advisory Commission
Meets periodically to review and make recommendations to City Council for arts and culture grants. Funds come from a portion of the city's hotel/motel tax.
Emergency Medical Service Advisory Board
Advise the City Council about matters dealing with the Emergency Medical Service responsibilities of the Longview Fire Department.
Historic Preservation Commission
Committee, among other duties, adopts criteria for and manages the designation of historic landmarks and historic overlay districts.
Longview Economic Development Corporation
The Corporation’s independent board of directors, five voting members, five non-voting members, is appointed by the mayor and city council.
Longview Firefighters Relief and Retirement Fund
This committee oversees the management of the firefighter's retirement fund.
Longview Housing Authority Advisory Commission
Seven members who conduct long-range planning for housing and community development needs of the City of Longview. To advise the City Council in matters dealing with Housing Authority and Community Development responsibilities.
Metropolitan Planning Organization
Longview MPO is comprised of two committees: the Technical Committee provides technical analysis and review, and the Policy Board is the top level transportation planning committee providing review and policy guidance for transportation planning effort
Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
Advise City Council and city staff regarding direction, both short and long-term, and vitalization of city parks and recreation programs.
Partners in Prevention Steering Committee
Guides and supports an array of coalition activities designed to engage the citizens of Longview in prevention of substance abuse, especially among youth, through mentoring, poverty reduction, drug awareness, crime prevention, and youth recreation.
Planning & Zoning Commission
The Planning and Zoning Division is responsible for assisting with zoning changes, subdivisions, variances and annexations of property.
Public Transportation Advisory Board
Provides broad-based input, feedback, and guidance on public transit programming, as well as innovative outreach technique for current and future transit projects.
Senior Advisory Committee
This committee advises staff on issues important to Longview’s senior citizen population including Green St. Recreation Center programs, policies and operations.
Zoning Board of Adjustment
Five members that hear requests for variances from the requirements of the zoning and sign ordinance.
